Chai – Milky tea with aromatic spices

January 18, 2008 · 6 Comments

Background:

Snowy evenings lend themselves to piping hot, sugary masala chai. Yesterday was one such day and I enjoyed this with hot pakoras as well.

Stuff you will need:

Tea leaves – 2 tsp
Milk – 1/2 cup
Ginger – small bit crushed
Cloves – 1 crushed
Cardomon – 1 crushed
Sugar to taste

How to make it?

Boil half a cup of water. Add crushed spices and sugar. When you can actually smell the ginger add tea leaves and lower heat to simmer and steep for about 2-3 minutes. Add milk and let is boil slowly. When it rises, turn heat off, filter and enjoy.

Serves one

Special Notes:

Black pepper can be substituted for cloves.
